Beitrag II (Insecta: Lepidoptera). Hermann Hacker. Download als PDF.

Abstract: The quantitative and qualitative effects of a complete defoliation caused by gypsy moth caterpillars (Lymantria dispar L.) and the effects of large scale deflubenzuron treatment to the insect communities of hardwood oak-coppice forests was reported for the first time by Hacker (1995). Gypsy moth populations increased in 1990/91 and caused partial or complete defoliation in 1992 to 1994. The field studies were made in two forests of high ecological value, “NSG [nature reserve] Gräfholz-Dachsberge” and “Stadtwald Ipshofen” in Middle and Lower Franconia (Germany, Bavaria), respectively. Following these preliminary results, now for the first time a documentary report of the long-term effects of a diflubenzuron treatment is given. In the first two years a significant reduction in species numbers and abundance was observed, documented by the insect group of “night-active Macrolepidoptera”. Already in the third and continued in the fourth year, the communities under research recovered quite quickly from the treatment. The stock of species now present doesn.t differ from the stock before deflubenzuron treatment. A number of species originally present is still missing, but on the other hand a number of species unrecorded prior to the treatment have been observed. The quick recreation of the hardwood oak-coppice forest complexes under investigation benefits from three factors: a) the high structural diversity of the oak-coppice forests of the “Stadtwald Iphofen”, b) the significant smaller dose of diflubenzuron used compared to the producer.s recommendation, c) the presumable appropriate application.judged by the results.of diflubenzuron.

Roland Achtziger & Wolfgang Scholze.Download als PDF.

Abstract: Recent records (1988–1996) of 54 rare and endangered species of land bugs (Heteroptera, Geocorisae) from different regions of Bavaria, especially Middle Franconia, Lower Bavaria and Upper Franconia, are compiled. Four species, Phytocoris hirsutulus Flor, 1860, Pachytomella parallela (Meyer-Dür, 1843), Mecomma (Globicellus) dispar (Boheman, 1870) and Fieberocapsus flaveolus (Reuter, 1870) are recorded for the first time in Bavaria. The species list also gives data on further known records in the Bavarian region.

Abstract: Compiling the results of a survey in five local pinewoods on sandy ground (sanddunes, alluvial sands) and the faunistics data from literature, private and public collections and personal communications with entomologists, the spectrum of xylobiontic beetles living in Pinus sylvestris in the “Regnitzgebiet” (the region framed by Frankenalb, Frankenhöhe, Steigerwald and Main) is listed. New records and notes on the ecology and distribution of selected species are given, among those Opilo pallidus (Ol.), Allonyx quadrimaculatus (Schall.), Phaenops formaneki Jakobs., Chrysobothris igniventris Rtt. and Acmaeops marginata (F.). For Chrysobothris igniventris Rtt. intermediate forms to C. solieri Lap. & Gory are described, its status as species propria is questioned. The results are discussed with regard to nature conservation aspects, the high importance of natural pinewoods on primary sands for several threatened and endangered xylobiontic beetles is emphasized.

Abstract: In the year 1995 a comparative study of the saproxylic beetle fauna was carried out in four study areas in the “Nationalpark Bayerischer Wald” in Bavaria, Germany. With a variety of different trap methods and manual sampling techniques a total of 654 species of Coleoptera were recorded, inclusive 255 species of saproxylic beetles. In an faunistical and synecological analysis the study sites were compared. Records of particular faunistic significance are commented on, five first records for Germany in detail: Neuraphes coecus, Atheta speluncicollis, Atomaria subangulata, Atomaria affinis, Hadreule elongatulus.

Abstract: The Böhmerwald (Šumava Mts.) do not extend above the climatic climax timberline. Native subalpine and alpine (boreo-alpine) Lepidoptera are associated with some montane forest edaphic climax refugia, namely mountain raised peat bogs and scree communities. Various examples of the most characteristic species are listed. The evident biogeographical affinity to the periglacial region of the Alps and to some Hercynium highlands is obvious.

Beiträge zur bayerischen Entomofaunistik 2: 125–130. Aktuelle Verbreitung und ökologische Ansprüche von Simyra nervosa ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775) in der Mark Brandenburg (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Jörg Gelbrecht. Download als PDF.

Summary: The xerothermophilic Simyra nervosa ([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775), which is an eastern species, is almost entirely confined to the Mark Brandenburg regarding its distribution in Germany. A few recent records are known from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Saxonia-Anhalt. All known records are given in a distribution map. In the Mark Brandenburg S. nervosa inhabits open sandy areas, where its major larval foodplants—Rumex acetosella and Chondrilla juncea—grow. These habitats are very endangered for multiple reasons. Therefore, not neglecting the diminishing records of the species, S. nervosa itself is a highly endangered species.

Julian Bittermann. Download als PDF.

Abstract: For the first time a distribution map of Synanthedon stomoxiformis (Hübner, 1790) is published for Bavaria. Geological and botanical conditions at its sites of occurrence are discussed. Hints for a proper management of these habitats are given.

Abstract: Since the publication of the first check-list of Bavarian microlepidoptera in 1987, faunistic and taxonomic studies on the familiy Gelechiidae have been advanced. Here, all Gelechiidae genera of Bavaria are enlisted according to “The Lepidoptera of Europe” (Karsholt & Razowski, 1996). Misidentified specimens in collections and earlier faunistic papers have been verified. At present, 212 species are known. Notes on 27 species of peculiar interest are given, 10 of which are new for Bavaria: Monochroa ferrea (Frey), Eulamprotes cf. plumbella (Heinemann), Stenolechiodes pseudogernmellus Elsner, Teleiodes aenigma Sattler, Gelechia basipunctella Herrich-Schäffer, Psoricoptera speciosella Teich, Athrips rancidella (Herrich-Schäffer), Phthorimaea operculella (Zeller), Caryocolum repentis Huemer & Luquet, Syncopacma incognitana Gozmány.

Abstract: Bavarian material of the family Elachistidae stored in Zoologische Staatssammlung München (ZSM) was revised. Since many species were incorrectly determined and published by Osthelder (1951), historical data are given as exact as possible; thus, it is hoped that a sound data base for future work on Bavarian Elachistidae is established. All species known from Bavaria up to now are concisely treated with respect to range, phenology, and, if necessary, feeding substrate of larvae. Elachista parasella Traugott-Olsen, 1974 and E. exigua Parenti, 1978 are reported from Germany for the first time.

Andreas H. Segerer. Download als PDF.

Abstract: By screening specimens preserved at the Zoologische Staatssammlung (München) and in the Staudinger-collection (Natural History Museum, Berlin), and by checking data in regional faunistic reports and contemporary collections, the lepidopteran fauna of Regensburg (central Bavaria) is critically reviewed with respect to old and doubtful species records. Our study includes (i) interpretation of some controversely discussed figures from the 18th century, (ii) identification of nude, unusual and misleading names, (iii) ambiguous quotations of formerly insufficiently discriminated and sibling species, (iv) verification of doubtful and highly discontinuous species records, (v) erroneously published and misidentified species, and (vi) species that had been collected but never been published by the old entomologists. The authorship of Capperia celeusi (Schmid, 1887) is reestablished by rejection of (Frey, 1886). Evidence for two possible new synonymies is presented, but could not be challenged as we were unable to detect original material: Syncopacma vorticella (Herrich-Schäffer, 1855), nec (Scopoli, 1763) is a possible misidentification of S. cincticulella (Bruand, 1850); and Coleophora minusculella Herrich-Schäffer, 1855 is tentatively identified as C. caespititiella Zeller, 1839. Three species are reported as new elements of the German fauna: Stigmella svenssoni (Johansson, 1971); Elachista exigua Parenti, 1978; and Syncopacma incognitana Gozmány, 1957. Coleophora adjectella Herrich-Schäffer, 1861 is new to Bavaria.
